Job Purpose

To ensure that adequate resources/processes reside in customer services geared towards highly professional interactions with customers associated with order processing, complaint registration, general management and information requirements.  Acts as a consultant to Customers regarding available products and specifications and supports Orders to Cash practices the business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Processes order receipts efficiently, prioritizing timely order processing and outstanding customer interactions and relationships. Registers and processes customer orders in the ERP system received via electronic mail, phone or through other contact parties with the customer. Ensures order processing is handled correctly in full, and within 24 hours.    Supports the order to cash process and collaborates with third party collection agency to resolve collection issues with customers
  • Initiates and tracks new product set up and color requests.  Escalates requests as required and follows up on urgent requirements
  • Raises issues in delivery and/or invoice process with concerned parties
  • Tracks status of orders and expedites through the system when necessary by coordinating with Planners and Logistics
  • Acts as first level contact with customer for answers to questions and in attempting to resolve complaints
  • Facilitates solutions for customer needs (e.g. additional and/or alternative products) through advanced customer, market, product and specification knowledge
  • Provides price quotations to direct accounts and for non-standard pricing within 24 hours
  • Makes proposals for improvements to work processes
  • Enters customer complaints.  Coordinates resolution and initiates credits or returned material authorizations when applicable
  • Initiate and investigate corrective actions to determine root cause on any Customer Service-related issues.  Resolves complaints appropriately through returned material authorizations or credit process. Initiates necessary changes to Customer Service processes to reduce/eliminate CS caused complaints
  • Support enhancements to training programs for customer service-related process by offering suggestions to Customer Service Supervisor.
  • Supports the training of new Customer Service team members
  • Supports sales targets for the Americas by coordinating with internal and external sales related programs and services
  • Completes registering / filing / archiving of customer service-related documentation
  • Assures cooperation between customer service and field force regarding administration of customers’ orders.
  • Adheres to all applicable corporate as well as site policies/procedures with regards to personal conduct/Health, Safety and Environmental standards and acts in compliance with all regulations
  • Runs ad-hoc reports regarding customer usage and history when required
  • Delivers custom information on high profile accounts as required

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • 3 years’ experience in customer services and/or sales support. Must possess commercial and business acumen.  Knowledgeable of paints and coating industry or any business-to-business specified products industry preferred
  • Solid understanding of Planning, Production and Logistics functions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP or similar ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software
  • Excellent customer service skills.  Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Basic understanding of financial concepts related to sales and customer services
  • Effective problem-solving skills.  Must be able to manage stakeholders
  • Bilingual skills preferred

Job Purpose

Perform routine, preventive and emergency repairs on building and grounds, laboratory, and manufacturing equipment to ensure on-time delivery of quality products to our valued customers and to preserve Akzo Nobel’s investment in the facility and the grounds.

Key Activities

  • Analyzes mechanical, problems on assigned equipment, plans for and takes corrective action.
  • Tests equipment operation after repairs or installations is completed and notifies necessary persons of equipment operational status.
  • Assists with new equipment installations as needed.
  • Performs minor repairs on flooring, concrete, drywall repair and painting. Repairs, and replaces lighting, process, pneumatic, and water piping (potable and fire protection).
  • Moves furniture, miscellaneous boxes and files as required. Assists with inventory management and keeps storerooms and shop neat and clean.
  • Performs preventive/predictive maintenance on assigned equipment by visually inspecting, greasing, testing safety switches, measuring with go-no-go gauges, recording critical information, oil analysis etc. and reporting adverse findings to the Maintenance Manager.
  • To maximize equipment up-time potential problems are identified and either repaired immediately or scheduled for repairs to eliminate breakdowns during operation.
  • Complies with all HSE policies and reports any concerns, which may have an adverse impact on health safety and the environment.
  • Attends monthly safety meetings, maintains a neat, clean and safe work area, works safely and requires others to work safely also.
  • Adheres to AkzoNobel’s Code of Conduct.
  • Corrects or notifies supervisor of unsafe conditions.
  • Perform area housekeeping responsibilities
  • Assist with on call duties after hours and weekends
  • Makes necessary repairs and adjustments to maintain maximum production efficiency and quality.

Job Requirements

  • 3 – 5 years experience in manufacturing maintenance and or related skilled trades.
  • Two years of technical training with state of the art maintenance practices preferred.
  • Proven experience using basic hand tools and power hand tools; as well as an ability to present continuing recommendations for plant and process improvement.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand technical documents and drawings of plant equipment.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Position will require ability to perform confined space entry, work at heights, lifting and manual labor.
  • Basic PC skills and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • High School degree or equivalent

Job Purpose

The Continuous Improvement Manager (CIM) role is responsible for championing, developing and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement (CI) and knowledge about related methodologies/ activities (Lean, Six Sigma, ALPS) across all areas of the site with a strong focus on manufacturing and operations. The end-purpose is to improve the real result key performance indicators (Safety, OTIF, cost, material efficiency, quality, and inventories) of the site. The CIM is actively involved in setting up and establishing a support structure to develop CI capabilities and mindset with guidance from central ISC – thus acting as an agent for culture change. This role personifies the Lean Six Sigma (L6S) capabilities and way of solving problems, making decisions and setting standards.

This is a full-time position that reports into the Site/ Plant Manager and is part of the local MT. As such the role aligns with the specific local requirements and priorities and acts effectively and autonomously to support the operational performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, HSE and people development.

Key Responsibilities

Build organizational capabilities 

  • Develop and expand local capabilities in applying continuous improvement tools and methods (Lean, Six Sigma) and promote a structured problem-solving approach.
  • Inject passion for this activity by providing a vision and direction for the future development and performance of the site.
  • Deploy and sustain the ALPS manufacturing program including a coaching support structure to drive CI initiatives and ensure sustainability of improvements
  • Coach Advanced and Lead Practitioners and local staff/MT on site and give reinforcement training on selected topics

Site Performance 

  • Support and challenge the workforce and local MT in direction setting, prioritization (timing, resources, and sequence of actions) and implementation of improvement activities to best achieve the targets for the key performance indicators of the yearly site improvement plan. This includes the organizational and strategic deployment throughout the site.
  • Review the ALPS operating framework (goals & targets, KPIs, operating processes, people) to ensure compliance with corporate and BA requirements and highlight to the site management team areas of concern to agree corrective actions.

Improvement Portfolio Management 

  • Identify, validate, initiate and drive new improvement opportunities and promote the passion for excellence and delivering on commitments values
  • Manage the improvement project funnel including scoping, project assignment, resource planning, tracking of progress and benefits and controlling sustainability of outcomes
  • Run own improvement projects delivering value to the organization

ALPS deployment 

  • Lead/ support the local ALPS implementation and build-up of required capabilities and ensure ALPS full and successful implementation and practical application on a daily basis
  • Network within the AkzoNobel CI community and share insights, problems and opportunities to promote improved performance and problem-solving across the company as well as encourage others to do the same.

Education and Experience

  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience (operations, production, maintenance, logistics, (process) engineering, continuous improvement, etc.)
  • Bachelor degree (degree related to technical, business, engineering, or chemistry preferred).
  • Confident and experienced in coaching others
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, TPM
  • Prior line management or team leader experience; knows how to use the skills and knowledge of the team to design and implement solutions
  • Experience with practical implementation of change programs a plus
  • Solid project and stakeholder management experience
  • Extensive experience in coaching and engaging others; able to impart knowledge to others
  • Able to multi-task in high-pressure environments
  • Excellent communication, presentation and conflict resolution skills on all organizational levels; ability to gain respect and trust through situational leadership and integrity and inspire others to follow and participate in the change process
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills, able to identify and structure issues, run accurate (also statistical) analyses and synthesize recommendations
  • Good team player, knows how to build his/her own network
  • Strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, JMP); able to prepare various formats of documentation associated with CI programs
  • Must be willing to train as an AkzoNobel lean six sigma black belt (where necessary)
  • Requires some travel
