Crater/Packer at Amiad USA Job Description

The Crater/Packer is accountable for packing/crating a variety of products and materials leaving the warehouse. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: fabricating wooden crates or boxes using hand/power tools; reading blueprints, shipping notices and other specifications and inspecting product to determine size/shape of container, materials to be used and types of supports/braces to be used. There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Load materials and products into package processing equipment
  • Clean containers, materials, supplies or work areas using cleaning solutions and hand tools
  • Record product, packaging and order information on specified forms and records
  • Examine and inspect containers, materials and products to ensure that packing specifications are met
  • Measure, weigh, and count products and materials
  • Lay out dimensions on materials with ruler, measuring tape and pencil
  • Saw materials to size using hand/power saws
  • Assemble materials using various tools and place them in container/crate
  • Build crates and prepares for shipping including applying labels and other packaging requirements
  • Count items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Update supplies as needed

Requirements: Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others, meet tight deadlines, and manage busy work schedule
  • Effectively work in an environment requiring repetitive job responsibilities
  • Ability to focus on safety and quality
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Forklift operating experience preferred

Work Environment

  • Professional office environment and occasional manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, grinding, vapor, dust and lubricants
  • Must adhere to company safety policies and wear the required personal protective equipment as needed
  • Routinely required to use standard office equipment
  • Expected to be proficient with a variety of computer programs; including MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)

Physical Demands

  • Required to stand, bend, walk, sit, use hands to operate office equipment, talk, and hear
  • May occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use of a variety of hand tools, forklift and other machinery

Travel

  • Minimal to no travel required for this position
