Academic Coordinator at Anderson Cancer Ctr Job Description

It is one of the nation’s original three comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute.
The Academic Coordinator position is to coordinate the daily operations and activities of the rotating residency/fellowship training programs, provides management guidance to residents/fellows on program and GME policies, and non-clinical aspects of the program. Develops understanding of ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) policies and procedures, including familiarity with the Common Program Requirements, and specialty specific requirements. Provides administrative support for program coordinators and residents/fellows. Perform complex, independent, administrative duties related to human resources, educational appointment, academic program support, and database maintenance, ensuring compliance with institutional regulations, for the Institution’s GME rotating trainees.
Key Job Functions
Perform complex, independent administrative duties related to human resources.
- Process all aspects of educational appointments and reappointments in compliance with departmental and institutional policies, government regulations, and appropriate oversight agency requirements for institution’s residents and fellows, including, but not limited to, GME rotators, and back-up for medical students
- Responsible for all Onboarding of rotating residents, fellows and medical students
- Conduct credentialing and verification of medical education of incoming trainees and assist with licensure and permit processes
- Tracks, documents, and reports on educational activities for residents, and fellows, for the purpose of meeting board certification requirements, meeting program accreditation requirements, and complying with the policies and procedures of the Office of Graduate Medical Education (OGME)
- Manage and maintain information systems and databases pertinent to educational programs and trainees
- Responsible for arranging all event activities pertaining to Orientation
- Monitor and track trainee leave time in New Innovation
- Process HRIS error reconciliation; provide timely and accurate reporting; serve as a back-up for other members of the GME credentialing team
- Responsible for department Procard
- Responsible for gathering documentation for all GME subcommittee meetings and preparing agendas/minutes for each meeting- GMEC, Curriculum Sub-committee, Wellness, Diversity, Budget Sub-committee, Internal Review Sub-committee, and the Patient Safety committee
Provide leadership, guidance, support and education to programs and departments regarding educational appointment of clinical trainee titles
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, government regulations, and appropriate oversight agency requirements
- Serve as liaison between a participating institution and the MD Anderson host department for affiliate programs/schools with which MD Anderson has an education program agreement
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree.
Experience
Required: Three years professional human resources, education or business experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Three years professional Graduate Medical Education, residency or fellowship experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Outpatient Clinical Nurse position is to coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum of care. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse is accountable and responsible for providing quality, evidence-based patient care through the appropriate use of resources in collaboration with the inter-professional team. Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Organizes and prioritizes work of patient care team; trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
Clinical Nurse opportunity in Interventional Radiology. The ideal candidate will be a RN with a minimum of 2 years of experience. Prior IR, ICU, ER, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, or Telemetry experience is a plus.
Shift: 10:30am – 9:30pm with rotating Saturdays and on call

The Respiratory Care team provides a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient health care services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With the help of highly trained equipment techs and internal information system support, our therapists can focus on the essentials of quality patient care. To do so, respiratory therapists are systematically assigned specific areas to promote respiratory excellence. Respiratory Care provides services to a full range of patients from toddler to the elderly with emphasis in acute and critical care.

The ideal candidate will be a Registered Respiratory Therapist and licensed with the Texas Medical Board as a Respiratory Care practitioner. **
Shift: Days 6:30am-7pm with rotating weekends and holidays (36 hrs.)
Salary: $53,640 – $67,050 – $80,460 (based on a 36 hour work-week)
KEY FUNCTIONS
Patient Safety
- Provides respiratory care modalities to patients as ordered by physicians or based on approved protocols, including but not limited to the administration of respiratory related medications, oxygen and humidity therapies, airway clearance therapy, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, lung studies etc. in all assigned areas (i.e. ICU and Non-ICU).
- Develops, implements and revises patient care plans while promoting patient safety, quality of care, and patient experience.
- Ensures prepackaged medications are labeled with patient information and has the correct drug, dosage and dosage form.
- Discusses orders for respiratory care with providers, nurses, supervisors and care teams.
- Verifies and accurately documents pertinent patient care data including assessment and procedures in medical records at the time of providing care.
- Assembles, prepares, cleans, and operates respiratory care equipment per established clinical and infection control practices. Documents patient safety issues in safety intelligence.
- Ensures supplies and equipment are used properly to promote stewardship of resources.
- Removes and returns all stand-by or used respiratory care equipment for processing in the department.
- Performs arterial draws and analysis.
Education and Training
- Provides education to patients before, during, and after patient care on respiratory medications and related modalities.
- Completely documents patient education in patient record.
- Provides orientation to new staff.
- Maintains required training and education per regulatory and licensing requirements.
- Attends all required training, education, and skills validation review on a timely basis.
- Attends staff meetings and team huddles regularly.
- Pays close attention to communication through the use of email, intranet, and other methods.

EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma or equivalent and an Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an approved and accredited program or university.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred: Two years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) by AHA
- Advanced Life Support (ACLS) by AHA
