Braven was named one of America’s Best Startup Employers 2022 by Forbes! We’re proud to be a nonprofit organization that values its employees and has always been committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace that mirrors our country.

About the Role

In order to achieve its ambition of serving 40,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven must be able to scale our technology systems and our ability to support those systems to meet the needs of our growing number of stakeholders.  In that effort, Braven is hiring a Product Support Manager who will be responsible for assessing the quality of the systems we design and troubleshooting issues as they arise to help the people we serve. As a member of the Product Support Team, you will serve as a final check on the functionality of new engineering fixes and features, create and deliver trainings to our staff on how to engage with our systems and be on the front lines to engage with our students, staff and volunteers when they experience problems. You will also play a leadership role in synthesizing the problems you see into recommendations, to solve issues more systemically.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide excellent customer service to users who need help with our technical systems.
  • Learn the systems we use inside and out in order to be able to investigate, triage, and resolve issues quickly and accurately.
  • Be highly responsive to requests for support and detail oriented so that every issue is tracked and resolved.
  • Be the voice of the field, by surfacing themes you see to product managers and engineers so that we can solve the root cause of issues and not just the symptoms.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product management to shape, support, and test changes to our systems
  • Support new feature launches including testing, quality assurance, training, documentation and support

Qualifications & Skills:

Braven is looking for a customer service-oriented problem solver, who is ready to collaborate and innovate with a growing Product Support Team. You are bringing experiences and strengths like these:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in a role that requires excellent customer service
  • Task Management – You don’t drop balls. You fully own the resolution of your tasks and projects and are able to prioritize amongst a large body of requests big and small. You exhibit strong judgment on when to act alone and when to seek input to make decisions.
  • Communication – You lean towards over communicating, ensuring that your team is aware of the issues you are seeing, progress you are making, and overall priorities you are following. You also have very strong writing skills, able to convey technical guidance in everyday language with an empathetic tone.
  • Responsive – You never leave someone hanging, believing that their issue is lost amongst a sea of other problems and deprioritized.
  • Self-Starter – when you identify problems, you act on them; you don’t need direction to have impact.
  • Scrappy – you’re willing to get your hands dirty and do whatever it takes to achieve your end goals, you recognize that no day will be like the day before and are flexible to jump on the highest priority thing even if you didn’t see it coming.
  • Comfort with data and technology – you can make sense of a dataset, aren’t scared of learning new technical skills like reading server logs or setting up a new service, like an IT support ticketing system.
  • Systems thinker – you should recognize patterns and aim to solve problems in ways that have multiplier effects rather than simply fighting individual fires.

Please know that no one ever meets 100% of the qualifications. If much of this describes you, we encourage you to apply.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in-person in Chicago (IL) preferred, Atlanta (GA), Newark (NJ), and New York City (NY)
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends to support Braven events to run smoothly
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be fully vaccinated and have received the Booster vaccination against COVID-19 and provide proof of such by the date of hire. Individuals may claim exemption from the vaccine requirement for medical or religious reasons. Exempted individuals will be subject to weekly testing if they engage in any in-person work activities.
