Reviews contractual relationships between the County and HIPAA-defined business associates to insure the inclusion of HIPAA compliant policies and procedures; periodically reviews County programs for changes in HIPAA covered-entity status.

Broward County, Florida, is looking for an exceptional Facilities Maintenance Director to lead a new Division in the Port Everglades Department. Port Everglades is known as Florida’s Powerhouse Port. It is among the world’s busiest home ports for cruise activity, one of the nation’s leading container ports, and is South Florida’s main seaport for receiving energy products including petroleum. As an enterprise fund with annual revenues of $170 million, Port Everglades does not rely on local tax dollars for operations or capital projects.
Located on Florida’s southeast coast between Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, Broward County offers an international hub for business, tourism, culture, and the arts. The year-round average temperature is 77 degrees, and with 247 sunny days there are endless opportunities to enjoy scenic waterways, Atlantic beaches, over 40 world class golf courses, and a variety of parks.
THE POSITION
The Facilities Maintenance Director is a highly responsible professional management position reporting to the Assistant (Department) Director for Port Everglades. The Port Everglades Port Director reports to the County Administrator who is directed by the nine-member Board of County Commissioners. The Broward County leadership philosophy is committed to integrity, strategic focus, and outcome driven vision.
Port Everglades has a 20-year Master / Vision Plan for expansion of its facilities. In addition, an Economic Strategic Business Plan (ESBP) outlines short term goals to structure the Port’s advancement in a post-pandemic environment. Reorganization of the Port Everglades Department is an outcome of the ESBP, consolidating responsibility for facilities assets and facilities infrastructure under the new Facilities Maintenance Division. The Director will lead a seamless transition to the new structure with responsive and efficient service delivery as priorities. The Director will lead implementation of a work order system that defines objectives and provides accountability. Port Everglades facilities are diverse, complex, and the operating conditions are dynamic. The Director will collaborate in the establishment of overall system protection through both physical and cyber security projects.
The Facilities Maintenance Division has approximately 93 total employees, including 2 Assistant Directors, 7 Skilled Trades Supervisors, a Port Maintenance Manager, 3 Construction Project Managers, and support staff. The Director will be closely involved in preparing and managing all aspects of the Division’s $16.8 million dollar budget as part of this role’s fiscal responsibility. This will include forecasting, preparing and tracking budget performance, as well as preparing cost analyses and other financial tools as needed.
The successful candidate must be a leader, comfortable working and communicating with a wide range of contacts in the field, office and public. The Director must possess excellent communication skills and have a record of success in developing and negotiating collaborative relationships. Positive working relationships with engineering staff and multiple contractors to coordinate current activities and plan for future needs will be essential. A diverse customer base for port facilities requires the Director to generate multiple outcomes for maintenance projects. Maintenance activities also incorporate environmental sustainability and resiliency.
QUALIFYING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, management, public administration, facilities maintenance, engineering, or closely related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Six years of progressively responsible experience in the management of public or private facilities maintenance, and administrative operations, or closely related experience along with a minimum of four years of high-level supervisory experience is required.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be a professional with experience in seaport facilities projects and/or other large-scale infrastructure and systems. Experience with direct oversight of skilled trades and project management with both internal resources and contractors is critical.
COMPENSATION
The established salary range for the Facilities Maintenance Director is up to $186,821 per year, including an excellent benefits package. The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Human Services Coordinator in the Human Services Department in the Justice Services Section.
General Description
Provides advanced social case management, counseling, and/or coordination of services in an assigned human services program. Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
The position will serve youth who have been committed to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and have been successfully released into their community within Broward County. Advocates on behalf of clients or consumers and families for services, basic needs, and other related issues.
The individual will work collaboratively with the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), community stakeholders and partners, and parents to keep these youth/young adults safely home in their communities by building on individual strengths, community resources, and family engagement.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in mental health counseling, marriage and family counseling, counseling education, social work, psychology, gerontology, or other closely related field based upon area of assignment.
Requires one (1) year of direct client social case work/counseling in either an addiction/substance abuse treatment or mental health facility/program, crisis intervention or clinical setting, or in a community resource eligibility center based upon area of assignment.
Special Certifications and Licenses
Depending upon area of assignment, may be required to have a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) Certification and a valid Florida Class E Driver’s License.
Preferences
Master’s Degree or higher and or licensed professional in Mental Health, Social Work or related field.
Bilingual English/Spanish and or English/Creole.
Duties And Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Advocates on behalf of clients or consumers and families for services, basic needs, and other related issues.
Assists social workers in case conferences and staffing; may serve as team leader.
Composes or prepares correspondence, case notes, narrative and technical reports, notifications, and related documents using computer-based applications.
Conducts activities and monitors the environment of care in a manner to maximize client or consumer and staff safety.
Conducts home and community visits related to consumer or client needs as required for area of assignment.
Counsels clients or consumers, individually or in groups, and/or their families, to facilitate achieving service plan goals, developing life skills, and/or mitigating inappropriate behavior.
Facilitates case consultation for specialized consumer or client situations.
Performs needs and comprehensive assessments; develops or updates care plans, service plans, and/or treatment plans with clients or consumers to address their needs and to facilitate referrals to appropriate treatment, service providers, or facilities; engages clients and families in the development of service implementation plans.
Provides crisis prevention, intervention, and supportive counseling as needed.
Provides follow-up and monitors service delivery and care environments.
Provides general information to clients. Coordinates and delivers agency services.
Explains the legal process to clients and family members as it pertains to individual cases; coordinates with local law enforcement agencies and the State Attorney’s Office regarding the status of cases.
Testifies at depositions, hearings, and trials as required.
Prepares case records and makes recommendations to supervisor concerning specific cases.
Performs related work as assigned.
