Director of Student Central at Chippewa Valley Technical College Job Description

OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Student Central is responsible for managing the overall activities and staff in Student Central, ensuring a culture of service excellence. Student Central serves college-wide customer service activities in admissions, general advising, registration, student records, financial aid, assessment, cashier’s office, and general College information. In addition, the Director of Student Central will also oversee programming and activities related to prospective, pipeline, and current CVTC students including, but not limited to, New Student Orientation, Student Outreach and Retention (SOAR), and other engagement activities. This position also oversees the staff and activities for the Scanning Center, student-facing marketing and social media, and the MyCVTC student portal. This is a leadership position at the College and reports to the Director of Enrollment Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage Student Central activities based on College customer service standards.
  • Monitor industry best practices for one stop centers and related processes to provide students with an integrated and efficient avenue to easily access resources and support through various options (i.e., chat, email, web, walk-in, etc.).
  • Provide leadership and direct supervision of General Advisors, Student Services Graphics and Multimedia Coordinator, and Assistant Director of Student Central.
  • Serve as main contact for student email system; oversee email response processes for student email and general college information requests.
  • Serve as main contact for student communication systems; coordinate and deliver trainings as necessary and send out mass communication messages to students.
  • Oversee and manage all activities related to New Student Orientation.
  • Direct and oversee all initiatives related to the MyCVTC student portal and serve on related College-wide technology committees.
  • Ensure compliance with approved College website protocol and procedures.
  • Manage and coordinate social media campaigns and oversee content for Student Central Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok pages.
  • Oversee and coordinate editing and content approval process for all student-facing marketing materials and campaigns, not limited to digital media, print ads, and video content.
  • Monitor, review, and report on all Student Central activities, services, and results.
  • Evaluate and analyze all Student Central activities and services to guide process improvement and data informed initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships College-wide to ensure routine flow of information from and to Student Central to best support students.
  • Recommend College procedure and policy changes to enhance customer service.
  • Design and direct engagement activities implemented by Student Central staff such as, but not limited to, Money Matters, Money Smart Week, Career Planning workshops, etc.
  • Develop and coordinate all activities of the Money Matters financial literacy program and direct financial literacy initiatives of the College.
  • Lead and coordinate Student Central presentations/orientations with students and parents and other CVTC staff; provide presentations to the CVTC community and other requested external presentations such as Financial Aid Nights, NSO, Support System Orientation, Welcome Days, open houses, financial literacy campaigns, and any other presentations/orientations.
  • Facilitate the preparation of and monitor the Student Central budget to comply with the College fiscal plan.
  • Oversee storage and destruction of college records.
  • Coordinate college shredding services with Confidential Records, Inc.
  • Oversee Banner systems in coordination with the Assistant Director of Student Central.
  • Provide appropriate training and professional development opportunities for the Student Central staff.
  • Coordinate shadowing of Student Central department with new and regular CVTC employees.
  • Participate on appropriate college teams and contribute to accomplishing the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Lead special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Education, Higher Education, Marketing, Student Affairs, or related field. Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a student service, customer service, or related field.
  • Direct experience supporting communication, social media, and marketing initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Experience at the postsecondary level with enrollment, outreach, and retention activities preferred.
  • Experience in a complex, multi-faceted environment preferred.
