Maintenance Mechanic at Collins Aerospace Job Description

Collins Aerospace is looking for aMaintenance Mechanic to support the manufacture of aviation technology for customers such as Boeing and Airbus. Needs to be flexible to work as needed across 1st and 2nd shift. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of production equipment including building infrastructure.

This professional will perform maintenance service and general support duties requiring a high degree of initiative and personal judgment in diagnosing problems, identifying corrective actions, determining scope of task, selecting work methods, and researching necessary information and equipment to accomplish tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expertise in electrical systems – layout, design, maintenance as well as electrical components such as conduits, wire types, sizes, indoor and outdoor devices.
  • Complete required preventative maintenance tasks. Perform installations, methodical trouble-shooting, problem solving, tear down, repair, re-assembly and test, fabrication and/or replacement of worn or broken parts.
  • Provide support on air compressors, boilers and HVAC systems (Closed loop systems). Install, diagnose, and repair electrical 120VAC, 240 VAC, 480VAC, single and three phase systems with a variety of test equipment, i.e. digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Perform programming, diagnostics, and repairs as needed on multi-axis CNC controls and PLC.
  • Maintain and repair metal cutting equipment including CNC’s.
  • Maintain and repair facility equipment including HVAC mechanical systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.
  • Previous experience conducting maintenance and repairs in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • NEC – code lookup and compliance standards.
  • Proper use of Electrical hand tools.
  • Strong safety behavior with no compromise.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Perform inspection of parts, does coating, labeling/boxing, and general preparation for shipment.
  • Check parts for cracks, loose connections, faulty bonds, and faulty assembly.
  • Record test results in testing log. Route products for rework or salvage of usable parts.
  • Route reworked assemblies for testing. Clean completed assemblies. Assemble parts according to blueprint specifications.
  • Test parts by connecting to test equipment setting controls, observing readings and actions of instrument checking for malfunctions.
  • Set up and use equipment such as: Ragen Assembly, Component Lead Former, Drill Press, Denison Hydraulic Press, Component Lead tinning, and S.M.T. Re-flow.
  • May fabricate instrument parts through crimping, staking, and cutting.
  • Acquire applicable skill/knowledge/certifications as required.
  • Once properly trained and/or certified- perform specific tasks including, but not limited to, welding, soldering, item test and inspection, filler, immersion testing.
  • Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Comply with all rules and regulations of Raytheon Technologies, including, but not limited to: Environmental Health and Safety,
  • Complete assigned tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual skills.
  • Check work methods and results for conformance to standards and re-instruct as required.
  • Report to lead or supervisor on work progress and updates including conditions surrounding failures to meet quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Must be able to stand for 8+ hours.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
  • Must be available for overtime, including extended workdays and weekends.
  • Ability to comply with EH&S policies and procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Attend EH&S trainings as required.
  • Ability to report unsafe practices and/or conditions to the appropriate individuals to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
  • Ability to recommend improvements to EH&S practices to create a safer workplace.

  • Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred
  • Career Readiness Certification (CRC) strongly preferred.
