Senior Accountant at Colorado Access Job Description

Under the supervision of the Manager of Accounting, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the external financial reporting activities for Colorado Access, including the preparation of regulatory (statutory) statements, state reports, audit reports and ad-hoc financial reporting. They are responsible for treasury activities such as bank account management, cash flow/cash adequacy analysis, investment activity and research, monitoring functions and management of banking relationships. He/she will participate in the monthly financial close, including review of journal entries and preparation of a variety of journal entries.  The Senior Accountant will monitor capitation activity, including preparing capitation payments to providers, monthly reconciliations and preparation of monthly financial activity/statements as needed.

They are also responsible for the preparation and initial review of internal financial statements.  They oversee the accounting system (Navision), including adding accounts, adding/deleting users, modifying reports and account schedules, etc.  The Senior Accountant will review and analyze general ledger accounts and assist the Controller with annual audits, special requests and projects.

·        Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual Statutory financial statements for Colorado Access including all required exhibits, supporting schedules and supplemental annual filings.  Responds to questions from the State’s Division of Insurance and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Works with statement preparation software vendor to ensure that the most current version of the software is available and to resolve software problems. Files statements with appropriate regulatory bodies and ensures that proper records are maintained.

·        Prepares quarterly reports as required under the Regional Accountable Entity contracts with the State of Colorado and submits drafts to manager and PD Operations on a timely basis. Working with Controller, prepare responses to subsequent questions from the State.

·        Prepares annual audit reports for Colorado Access and compiles schedules/documents to support all disclosures. Serves as the primary contact for the external financial audit team for areas of responsibility.

·        Responsible for treasury management including set up and maintenance of all bank accounts, authorized signers lists, cash flow and daily cash analysis.  Researches and monitors investment options and activity. Maintains relationships with all banks.

·        Completes internal transfer activities as needed to ensure that claims payment and operating bank accounts are adequately funded to support provider payments.  Initiates regular external wires as payment for pharmacy expense and other expenses, as needed.

·        Participates in the monthly close by preparing certain entries and potentially reviewing and posting others.   Monitors progress of the monthly close.

·        Prepares internal monthly financial statements for all lines of business and modifications to the financials as necessary.  Performs year-end close activity within the accounting system, copies and archives all financials.

·        Oversees the day-to-day operation of the accounting system, including adding and modifying accounts, modifying reports and accounts schedules, adding and deleting users (including specific permissions for each user), etc.

·        Monitors, analyzes and reconciles monthly capitation receipts and related 820 files from the State. Ensures proper recording into the general ledger.

·        Calculates monthly prepayments and capitation payments to various mental health centers. Includes related monthly reporting as needed.

·        Assists with preparation of all required tax returns, including providing requested information to external tax preparation team and reviewing tax returns for accuracy and reasonableness.

·        Analyzes, monitors and reviews general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness. Includes investigation of unusual variances and/or monthly fluxes and maintenance of several individual account analysis spreadsheets. Conducts monthly analytical review of financial statements.

·        Provides general assistance to the Controller including special requests, periodic projects, ad hoc reporting, check requests, audit matters, and responding to requests from internal and external parties.

·        Provides general assistance to the Accounting Staff including assistance with journal entries, researching questions, calculations and any additional requests.

·        Acts as backup for the Payroll Accountant.

·        Develops and drafts responses to requests from the IRS, providers and auditors.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related business field.  Equivalent combination of experience and/or education may substitute with a preference for six years progressive relevant work experience.

Experience: Minimum of four years related work experience, preferably in health care, health insurance, or medical field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Advanced understanding of generally accepted accounting principles required. Working knowledge of Statutory accounting principles preferred. Position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.  Demonstrates support for the company’s mission, vision and values.  Must have strong organizational and time management skills.  Proficient in the use of PC’s including MS-Office applications (Word, and Excel) and accounting related software.  May be required to manage multiple priorities and projects with tight deadlines.

Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license and proof of current auto insurance will be required for any position requiring driving. CPA license preferred but not required.

Under the supervision of theDirector of Quality Improvement, the Quality Program Analystis responsible for working with core operational teams to execute on the company’s health strategy. The position will maintain a comprehensive data portfolio of performance metrics, value-based payment models, and ad-hoc quality data projects related to provider and network performance monitoring. Additionally, the position will be tasked with proactively facilitating data-driven documentation and improvement through collaborative partnerships across technical and business areas that guide meaningful health outcomes and experiences. Furthermore, the Quality Improvement Analyst ensures that standards of excellence are maintained through quality assurance and other data monitoring activities.

  • Manages the execution of diverse data needs across departments implementing the company’s health strategy and quality initiatives. Supports applicable departments and programming, which may require a variety of data support needs across all contracts.
  • Works with business leaders, Information Technology and Business Intelligence to ensure that overall data needs are met in a timely manner and are of expected quality.
  • Coordinates the design, execution and ongoing maintenance of contract-specific performance metrics and data dashboards.
  •     Works with internal Quality staff to conduct evaluation activities and provide necessary trend reporting for company deliverables.
  •     Performs data project management activities necessary to promote quality, facilitates resource management and progress reporting, defines and maintains project scope, meets schedules and deadlines, and coordinates intra-and interdepartmental activities.
  •    Analyzes quality data to identify, model, and trend areas of improvement that will impact initiatives and contractual obligations.
  •     Assist in training personnel in data analysis, processes and coding guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in statistics, epidemiology, economics, healthcare management, information systems, informatics, computer science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum five years’ progressive work experience in a healthcare data related field required. Health care management or insurance field highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Significant experience in SQL, data management and statistical tools, and Microsoft Office required. Experience in SAS or R a plus. Experience with healthcare data required. Relevant knowledge in healthcare claims coding (CPT, ICD, HCPCS etc) or relevant certification (AAPC, etc) a plus. Demonstrates support for the company’s mission, vision and values. Must be a motivated self-starter and self-learner. Customer Service Representative at Colorado Access Job Description

Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Customer Service, the Customer Service Representative will assist Colorado Access customers by identifying, researching, documenting, and resolving issues while demonstrating a customer-focused philosophy. They will maintain all performance, quality, customer service, and coordination standards as assigned by the department management team.
· Answers incoming calls, demonstrating a customer-focused philosophy for all customers including, but not limited to, providers, members, potential members, state agencies and other internal and external customers.
· Researches, resolves and documents customer inquiries, concerns and issues. Provides accurate information and education for all inquiries.
· Conducts outgoing calls to customers for follow-up, benefit information, member and provider retention, claims, and other inquiries as needed.
· Utilizes resource materials, policies and procedures, handouts, databases, training opportunities and multiple systems to help with day to day activity.
· Consistently meets or exceeds performance, quality and customer service standards as assigned by the department management team.
· Provides clear and thorough documentation into our CRM tool for each call received.
· This position also includes following a daily schedule for breaks and lunches.
· Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
REQUiREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 2 customer service experience, and medical insurance and Medicare and Medicaid eligibility and enrollment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work within a call center environment and answer inquiries in a professional manner. Requires the ability to identify and appropriately handle grievances and appeals, and to facilitate quality outcomes and/or resolutions for the benefit of all applicable parties.
