Director of Marketing and Development at Dairy Management Inc Job Description

The Director of Marketing and Development reports directly to GENYOUth’s Chief Marketing Officer and supports the marketing and fundraising needs of the organization. Topline responsibilities include expanding GENYOUth’s revenue streams in the areas of corporate and foundation partnerships, individual giving, marketing support and pursuit of sponsors and philanthropic contributions to support organization’s programs and annual events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Revenue Generation: Generate $3M-$5M annually through new business development, including corporations, foundations and individuals.

  • Proactively identify funding opportunities (restricted and unrestricted) to advance GENYOUth’s mission to create healthier school communities.
  • Work with GENYOUth CBDO, CMO and CEO to set annual fundraising revenue goal. Manage GENYOUth marketing and development intern.
  • Be on-call for CEO prospect outreach, proposal development and follow up
  • Research prospects and funding opportunities; meet with potential donors and write compelling grant, marketing proposals and concept notes for private and corporate foundations, government agencies and multilateral organizations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential funding partners
  • Manage and develop protocols for timely submission of proposals and reports
  • Prepare interim and final reports for funders
  • Liaise with internal team to effectively identify and support opportunities appropriate to our operations and program
  • Work in partnership with CEO, CBDO and CMO on development and implementation of annual fundraising strategy and development plan to include corporate, foundation and government funding opportunities
  • Support sponsorship sales for GENYOUth fundraising “events” each year leveraging GENYOUth’s partner assets and relationships (e.g., Taste of the NFL, GENYOUth Gala, esports)
  • Track all prospect activity maintain calendar for proposals, reports and prospect data base for ongoing communication
  • Proactively share new ideas to build funding base, attract new partners and high net donors
  • Attend team meetings and serve as a resource on funder requirements and grant deliverables
  • Manage/support the contracting process as needed, and work in sync with the accounting department

Marketing:

  • Support CMO in GENYOUth brand building and marketing activities to raise organization’s visibility and attract new funders
  • Work with team on development of sales and marketing materials for funder outreach and communication
  • Communicate with the entire organization on development team strategies and initiatives; lead bi-weekly business development team calls

Operations/Systems:

  • Must have experience with CRM and donor databases (e.g., Salsa, ZoomInfo) to effectively manage the system for business and partnership development and relationship building activities (e.g., newsletter distribution and additional marketing efforts)
  • Create timely reports and statistical analysis to GENYOUth senior leadership team for quarterly communication with the GENYOUth Board of Directors

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Enthusiastic marketing savvy go-getter with a B.A. and 7+ years philanthropic and/or new business development/sales, marketing, partnership coordination and program design experience. Proven track record of raising $3-5 million dollars annually.

Requirements

As a strategic and creative thinker, the preferred candidate will have seven years plus years of fundraising, business development, marketing, nonprofit or other client service experience. Additionally, the candidate will have proven experience and demonstrated success in fundraising/business development, project and relationship management, research, quantitative analysis and strong verbal and written communications skills.

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA/Master’s degree preferred.

Overview of Responsibilities: DMI is looking for an organized, self-sufficient project management subject matter expert to execute projects and support day-to-day responsibilities of the Project Management Office (PMO).

Main Responsibilities:

Reporting to the SVP of Corporate Communications, this role will develop and execute the communications strategy for positioning U.S. dairy’s reputation with thought leaders and media while also developing the corporate communications strategy for the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy. In addition, this role would also support the broader Integrated Marketing and Communications Team by providing ongoing content conveying the work of the Innovation Center that can be utilized in different channels to help build trust for dairy and leadership recognition for U.S. dairy within agricultural sustainability and global sustainable food systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support overall communications strategy for positively positioning the actions, commitments and progress of the U.S. dairy community within the context of global sustainable food production
  • Identify high-profile thought leadership events for U.S. dairy to have presence at and lead presence/activation elements (e.g., content development, amplification opportunities)
  • Develop breakthrough ideas for partner integrations and activations that share U.S. dairy’s story and commitments
  • Support high-profile media opportunities working closely with the SVP of Media Relations
  • Oversee paid and owned content development and amplification for U.S. dairy’s story
  • Support owned digital channels, providing community management and content development support
  • Provide community management support for the Innovation Center’s LinkedIn page, working closely with the Innovation Center’s SVP of Dairy Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Support the communications strategy for continuing to increase the visibility and value of the U.S. Dairy Stewardship Commitment within the dairy community (e.g. marketing and communication materials, conf/events, etc.).
  • Work in partnership with the media relations and broader IMC team to identify ways to incorporate the Stewardship Commitment into ongoing efforts to tell U.S. dairy’s story to thought leaders, consumers.
  • Provide ongoing communication support for the Innovation Center, including:
  • Creating and maintaining a messaging strategy for the Innovation Center that includes key messages and both historic and new proof points that demonstrate the Innovation Center’s priorities and successes.
  • Managing the annual IC communication/content calendar; developing IC content for other communication channels reaching broader external audiences (e.g., website, social channels, newsletters)
  • Writing for Board and other stakeholder updates
  • Ensuring that the Innovation Center has updated, contemporary core materials that communicate the “who, what, why and results” of the Innovation Center
  • Provide communications support for the U.S. Dairy Sustainability Report and key Innovation Center meetings and events including U.S. Dairy Sustainability Alliance meetings (2x year), the annual Sustainable Ag Summit and the annual U.S. Dairy Sustainability Awards
