Job Summary 

Working closely with internal team members and community partners, the Program Manager provides day to day project management across a variety of programmatic activities throughout the Pacific Northwest focused at the intersection of equity, economy, and the environment. These efforts include building the capacity of farmers and food entrepreneurs of color to access and thrive in new markets; catalyzing strategies that enable communities of color to equitably steward land and acquire capital and assets; and supporting the leadership of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, and other people of color in the food system. Through these initiatives, Ecotrust works to advance economic opportunity, ecological lands and water stewardship, and racial justice.

Primary Responsibilities The activities listed below represent the core functions of this position. A candidate will be assessed on their ability to successfully fulfill or quickly learn these functions.

Program Implementation and Relationship Building (80%)

  • Project manage complex, multiyear initiatives implemented in deep collaboration with community partners.
  • Research, design, and deliver programming. Activities may include outreach and recruitment; researching resources; conducting stakeholder engagement; developing training strategies, implementing workshops, and delivering technical assistance on topics such as business development and climate stewardship; and identifying and contracting with consultants and speakers.
  • Contribute to program strategy development.
  • Participate in and provide hands-on support at the Come Thru market at the Redd in Portland, Ore., twice a month, on Mondays from May through October.
  • Participate in local grassroots engagement efforts, including outreach and relationship building with farmers and food system leaders.
  • Represent Ecotrust in relevant networks and coalitions.

Fundraising, Reporting and Budget Management (10%)

  • In collaboration with partners and team members, participate in grant writing and proposal development to fundraise for our strategic priorities.
  • Develop reports on programmatic activities and occasionally participate in philanthropic engagements. Support grant and contract budget management.

General Ecotrust Responsibilities (10%)

  • Support the implementation of Ecotrust’s 5 year strategic plan
  • Participate in monthly Ecotrust all staff meetings
  • Participate in monthly team meetings. This position is a member of both the broader Programs team and Food Systems team.
  • Participate and contribute to Ecotrust’s organizational change efforts. This may also include participating in all-staff anti-oppression learning and action sessions, reviewing all-staff communications, and providing feedback by responding to surveys and participating in group discussions.

The Weddings & Venue Coordinator will work with the Ecotrust Event Staff to assist and service events happening within the Natural Capital Center (NCC) and the Redd on Salmon Street. The Weddings & Venue Coordinator will work closely with the Events Sales Manager to move weddings and social events through the event lifecycle, including providing sales tours and site visits, acting as the clients’ main point of contact during events, participating in event setup and breakdown, and providing light housekeeping. Our beautiful and historic buildings are prized assets and the venue coordinator plays a critical role in protecting the spaces during event rentals. This is a Full-time position, typically working Tuesday through Saturday with Sundays on an as needed basis. Qualified candidates must be an effective team player. Responsibilities

  • Provide knowledgeable and welcoming sales tours for prospective clients.
  • Conduct site visits for booked clients, tracking and documenting details relating to layout, vendors, timelines, and decor.
  • Support Events Sales Manager by creating layouts, inputting data, and corresponding with clients.
  • Set up and teardown for events, lifting and/or moving furniture; physical work is involved and prominent. This includes setting up and breaking down 100+ chairs and 20+ tables.
  • Main point of contact for clients during events, interacting with all clients, guests and vendors in a positive manner, providing outstanding customer service no matter the race, ethnicity, culture, and background of the person
  • Remains calm and collected in stressful circumstances, simultaneously adheres to building policy and feels empowered to make executive decisions surrounding the venue while coordinating an event
