PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Within Leidos Biomedical Research Inc., the Clinical Monitoring Research Program Directorate (CMRPD) provides high-quality comprehensive and strategic operational support to the high-profile domestic and international clinical research initiatives of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Clinical Center (CC), National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Since its inception in 2001, CMRPD’s ability to provide rapid responses, high-quality solutions, and to recruit and retain experts with a variety of backgrounds to meet the growing research portfolios of NCI, NIAID, CCR, NHLBI, NIAMS, NCATS, NINDS, and NIMH has led to the considerable expansion of the program and its repertoire of support services. CMRPD’s support services are strategically aligned with the program’s mission to provide comprehensive, dedicated support to assist National Institutes of Health (NIH) researchers in providing the highest quality of clinical research in compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines, maintaining data integrity, and protecting human subjects. For the scientific advancement of clinical research, CMRPD services include comprehensive clinical trials monitoring, regulatory, pharmacovigilance, protocol navigation and development, and programmatic and project management support for facilitating the conduct of 400+ Phase I, II, and III domestic and international trials on a yearly basis. These trials investigate the prevention, diagnosis, treatment of, and therapies for cancer, influenza, HIV, and other infectious diseases and viruses such as hepatitis C, tuberculosis, malaria, and Ebola virus; heart, lung, and blood diseases and conditions; parasitic infections; rheumatic and inflammatory diseases; and rare and neglected diseases. CMRPD’s collaborative approach to clinical research and the expertise and dedication of staff to the continuation and success of the program’s mission has contributed to improving the overall standards of public health on a global scale.

The Clinical Monitoring Research Program Directorate (CMRPD) provides data management and portfolio analysis support to the NCI Center for Global Health (CGH) to inform and to support the mission of NCI/CGH. In this role, the support shall provide strategic data management and analysis for the Center and will participate as a member of the CGH Data Team within the Partnership and Dissemination Branch. The support will manage data for CGH/NCI for the purposes of informing program planning, engaging and briefing principals, research, and priority setting. The support shall conduct monitoring and evaluations and program reviews of NCI projects, and data.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs data analysis, data synthesis, and narrative to accompany data and grant portfolio assessments
  • Including graphic representations (pie charts, bar graphs, line graphs, etc.) of the Institute’s research portfolio and written analysis narrative as required by reporting guidelines
  • Analysis, as required, of the larger NIH portfolio (and where relevant the larger USG portfolio) in global health to help inform program planning and partnership development
  • Performs data collection, management, and analysis for CGH to ensure that cancer research data received from the NCI is in the specific format, cleaned and curated
  • Performs reviews and quality checks on all portfolio analyses to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Designs data capture tools and systems to keep the data current, and conducts recurring and ad hoc studies involving the formulation, coordination, and management of complex data sets
  • Develops analytical reports that synthesize data and draw inferences and conclusions regarding research funding activities and/or policies
  • Provides data coordination by liaising between NCI and the outside organizations (e.g., NCI Designated Cancer Centers,
  • The International Cancer Research Partnership, etc.) to ensure efficient data collection, entry, and management as well as regular portfolio analysis to generate reports for the NCI
  • Represents NCI/CGH data and related analysis in internal and external meetings, and provides information to support formal presentations for advisory councils and professional meetings

  • Developing OMB packages for evaluation approval as needed with guidance from the Task Order COR and Team Lead for Evaluation
  • This may involve liaising with NCI OMB liaisons to ensure these packages are complete and moving forward and to answer questions that may arise.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Position Overview:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Protective Services provides 24/7 security coverage for the NCI-Frederick campus, the Pilot Plant, and the Advanced Technology Research Facility (ATRF).

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform periodic inspection of all grounds and facilities
  • Control access to facilities through the use of a computerized access control system
  • Respond to scientific alarms
  • Observe surroundings for possible health and safety hazards

This Protective Services Officer will work a part-time night shift, weekends, 11:30 p.m. – 12:00 Noon.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of one-year job related or one year of experience at Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc
  • Must become First Aid, CPR/AED certified within 60 days of hire date (Training will be provided.)
  • Must attend training in hazardous waste operations at the awareness level (Training will be provided.)
  • Ability to perform physical duties including:
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

HPC Systems Manager at Frederick National Laboratory Job Description

The mission of Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) is to develop an enterprise-level, consolidated information technology infrastructure that provides exceptional IT capabilities to the Frederick National Labs for Cancer Research (NCI-Frederick/FNLCR) in support of basic, translational, and clinical cancer and AIDS research. The IT Operations Group (ITOG) is a part of Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) within Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. ITOG is responsible for computational servers, storage servers, virtual machine infrastructure, and the FNLCR network. ITOG focuses on implementing enterprise IT best practices in the areas of computational services, storage, backup, and archiving; batch and application support; server consolidation and virtualization; network infrastructure; unification of voice, teleconferencing, and video communication technologies; and improved infrastructure for collocation of dedicated servers.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with scientific researchers to architect, implement, and deploy: HPC clusters, high-capacity, high-bandwidth storage, and scientific software applications necessary to support scientific research
  • Manage and grow a small and technically strong team of HPC engineers who develop, build, and deploy HPC systems that are part of our product
  • Partner with enterprise storage and networking teams to optimize workflows and workloads needed by scientific labs with large data generators
  • Model, characterize, and tune the performance of HPC systems to achieve the most efficient and cost-effective solution
  • Manage the HPC capacity plan, develop deployment schedules, and identify critical science deliverables
  • Identify and manage risks for the HPC systems and develop mitigation plan
  • Perform without considerable direction and mentor and supervise employees if needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience, including two (2) years of experience in a manager capacity
  • Experience in managing Linux and Windows systems in a high-throughput, data intensive environment
  • Experience as a technical lead and/or managing a technical team
  • Solid knowledge of HPC systems, storage, high-speed interconnect, and GPU architecture
  • Experience with batch control software such as SLURM
  • Strong understanding of Linux internals
  • Broad experience with high performance storage systems, NFS, SMB, POSIX
  • Familiarity with system performance analysis, monitoring, and tuning
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

Position Overview:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) programs at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research and the National Cancer Institute at Frederick provide comprehensive professional EHS services to employees working in general offices, industrial shops, experimental research laboratories, and animal care environments. Work is performed within the offices of the EHS Directorate and across the campus in various customer locations.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs safety and environmental compliance tasks and provides assistance and other services as needed; employee instruction on safety and health and pollution prevention, packaging of hazardous material for pickup, hazardous spill cleanups, hazard decontamination, hazardous waste disposal, etc.
  • Attends training sessions to obtain appropriate certifications from MDE, EPA, DOT, etc.
  • Identifies and monitors safety/health hazards, exposures, and environmental concerns and initiates corrective action. Performs workplace safety inspections, reports results, and monitors corrective actions
  • Conducts surveys for evidence of contamination by radioactive, chemical, or biological hazardous materials
  • Maintains and calibrates EHS instrumentation
  • Conducts surveys and inspections of work areas to assess safe work conditions
  • Maintains effective communications with a broad range of employees
  • Serves on task forces, planning teams and relevant committees
  • As determined by the program requirements, this position may be designated as a Primary Driver and will be responsible for complying with the Leidos Biomedical Use of Government Owned or Leased Vehicles Policy
  • Learn and apply a variety of procedures used in safety and environmental control operations
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment and instrumentation
  • Use pertinent computer software
  • Maintain confidentiality pertaining to occupational exposure, medical, and similar data

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • No experience required with a Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in safety operations, preferably at a biomedical research facility or an institution of higher education, may be substituted for the degree
  • Must have and maintain a valid State Driver’s License issued by the state in which the candidate resides. Must have no more than 3 demerit points in the previous twelve (12) months or five (5) demerit points in the preceding thirty-six (36) months as determined by the Leidos Biomed Use of Government Owned or Leased Vehicles Policy
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with safety regulations to include OSHA, DOT, MDE, EPA, NRC, etc.
  • Successful completion of college level general coursework in algebra, physics, biology and chemistry
  • Knowledge of standard scientific methods and measuring instruments
  • Position requires a strong service orientation toward the Frederick National Lab for Cancer Research community where all duties are conducted in a collegial manner
  • Ability to produce effective written and oral communications
