Cutter Operator at McCain Foods USA, Inc. Job Description

This role has an introduction rate of $17.88 and once fully trained, the role will be $19.87

We are expanding our existing operations at McCain foods in Othello, making it an exciting time to join our team! McCain Foods USA, Inc., a division of McCain foods Limited, the world’s largest producer of frozen french fries, announced a $300 million investment in its Othello, Washington facility in May of 2019. This expansion adds a 170,000 square-foot expansion and brings 180 new jobs to the Othello community. In line with our values and our overall global commitment to sustainability, this investment also brings environmental efficiencies, reducing the facility’s carbon footprint while doubling its production, underlining McCain’s commitment to sustainability.

SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring the proper preparation of knives for cut changes. Monitors and adjusts cutting and sizing equipment with accuracy. Responsible for achieving optimum equipment performance, which results in meeting or exceeding product quality standards. Also helps in daily sanitation and clean-ups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.
  • Operates cutter deck and related equipment.
  • Performs machine preventative maintenance checks, diagnostic checks, and routine adjustments on line equipment.
  • Coordinates with other operators in varying departments.
  • Collects samples and inspects product for quality requirements and machine efficiencies.
  • Monitors and maintains sufficient water level in pump tanks.
  • Prepares and maintains process control report data.
  • Inputs all information into Infinity and completes all records and reports.
  • Evaluates and measures by-product recovery system.
  • Relieves other employees under the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.
  • Communicates problems or changes in production or quality to supervisor and appropriate personnel.
  • Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.
  • Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Helps to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the Factory, and the Company.

Packaging Operator at McCain Foods USA, Inc. Job Description

Operates all related equipment in a safe and efficient manner to produce quality product.

Job Functions

Essential Functions:

  • Orders packaging material (paper, poly, cartons) from storage as needed.
  • Visually inspects boxes, cartons and bag material for printing defects.
  • Ensures proper sizing of container (box).
  • Performs sanitation duties of the work area include the machines equipment.
  • Loads packaging material onto machines in a timely manner to ensure no line stoppages.
  • Observes operation of equipment and performs necessary adjustments to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Performs net weight control checks and make equipment adjustments to minimize give away.
  • Performs metal detector checks as required to ensure product integrity.
  • Communicates any changes in product flow, equipment malfunctions, shortages or deviations from specifications to Production Supervisor, maintenance or other operators verbally and/or writing.
  • Assists in development of training programs and in training of both production line workers and operators.
  • Assists Production Supervisor by monitoring breaks.
  • Inspects packaging, coding and seals to verify conformance to specifications and performs necessary adjustments to insure compliance.
  • Reviews SPC test results to understand when and if to make adjustments to keep process in control.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Completes end of shift reports with all required information at shift end.
  • Evaluates line worker performance and communicates observations to supervisor, including areas for improvement.
  • Reports any changes in product flow, equipment malfunctions, deviations or safety hazards to Production Supervisor or mechanic.
  • Monitors and encourages personnel to ensure good manufacturing practices.
  • Provides fellow operators with verbal/written information concerning production efficiencies and product quality.
  • Performs light maintenance of packaging equipment and assist maintenance personnel and adjustments and repairs.
  • Analyze and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • Maintains Hour by Hour Boards and other visual documentation boards.
  • Strictly adheres to all company and plant policies concerning safety, performing proper Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures, using proper lifting techniques, wearing effectively all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, proper walking/stepping and all other safety procedure related to your duties.
  • Adhere to all company and plant polices related to GMP’s, Safety, work rules and procedures.
  • Perform activities of packaging attendants as needed.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential for meeting performance expectations of the position.

We Are Hiring for our Appetizer Plant in Appleton, WI!

We’re hiring Tempoary Summer Help General Assemblers to join our production team on 2nd and 3rd shifts and help us feed America. Apply now for an interview to join our team!

The rate of pay is $17.60 per hour plus $.75 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shift!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect all products, raw and finished, for use according to quality specification sheets and standards set and audited by the quality team.
  • Package finished goods in designated cartons or cases.
  • Rotate throughout the production line as scheduled.
  • Assist in cleaning work area.
  • Follow proper safety and GMP guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in basic English and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Some weekends and manditory overtime are required when production schedules necessitate it.
