Metro Transithas its own licensed police force committed to the safety of its customers and employees, serving eight counties and 85 cities in the region. There are approximately 141 full-time officers, 60 part-time officers, 20 community service officers and 12 administrative staff dedicated to one thing: public safety on and near our transit system.
As a Metro Transit Police Officer, you will protect and serve Metro Transit employees, passengers, equipment and property. Transit Police Officers ride buses and trains as well as patrol along bus routes, METRO Blue Line (Hiawatha), METRO Green Line (Central Corridor), and the Northstar Line. Transit Police Officers also inspect fares on the Blue Line, Green Line and Northstar trains and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes.
Application review will begin on May 4th, 2021. We anticipate utilizing this recruitment process to fill a late summer 2021 academy session, as well as create a one-year eligibility list for future vacancies. Applicants must be eligible to be POST licensed by the time of conditional offer.

- Demonstrate knowledge of geographic locations in assigned areas
- Adhere to proper arrest procedures

- Maintain equipment to ensure good working order and immediately report equipment failures and take proper steps to alleviate the problem
- Obtain pertinent information from suspects, witnesses or victims by applying appropriate interviewing techniques
- Submit concise and accurate reports in a timely manner
- Utilize and understand commonly used forms, computer programs and applications
- Follow evidentiary procedures as required by identifying evidence and handling it appropriately to maintain evidence integrity
- Communicate feedback and pertinent information to supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned
- An associate degree in Law Enforcement from an accredited College or University AND must currently be MN Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) licensed or eligible to be POST licensed as a full-time peace officer in the State of Minnesota by the time of conditional offer.

Start – $27.32 hourly / $56,825 annual
After year 1 – $30.08 hourly / $62,566 annual
After year 2 – $33.70 hourly / $70,096 annual

Lateral Officers: Hourly rate will be based on years of sworn full-time experience upon completion of the academy.
The position may require work around moderate/extreme noise, moderate/extreme weather conditions, mechanical parts, electric currents and vibration; atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases and poor ventilation; hazardous materials such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids.
