Job Description Summary

DEFINITION:

Under general supervision, the position acts in a frontline capacity in spaces that provide services to students and the community. The position is required to provide effective customer service while assisting students and departmental visitors navigate a department’s services. Job Description Summary

This is a 12-month, 100% Classified Position

DEFINITION:

Under general supervision, the position implements the District wide tutoring program by training District tutors based on the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) standards and provides other relevant district tutor training. The position conducts training sessions related to different levels of CRLA Certifications for tutors in multiple subjects. The position evaluates tutors to ensure successful completions of each level of training. This position recruits, hires, trains, and supervises tutors and non-classified ELC support (75%). In addition, the position also instructionally supports the English courses that require the completion of lab work that is performed in the English Learning Center (ELC – 25%). This position requires working into the evening.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Conduct training sessions for District tutors to ensure that tutors are trained in successful tutoring practices that reflect CRLA standards; conduct other relevant District tutor training;
2. Verify the successful completion of different levels of trainings;
3. Ensure that tutors successfully complete trainings and are evaluated to determine if tutors are competent in CRLA standards and are able to achieve certification;
4. Update CRLA workshop manuals;
5. Tutor students in subjects related to reading and writing in transfer and non-transfer level college courses;
6. Review English individualized course work to check student progress, check the understanding of reading and writing content materials, sign off on completed English lab work and attendance;
7. Enter student grades into appropriate database;
8. Provide assistance in using various educational and tutoring software and learning platforms;
9. Monitor student activity and noise level of the ELC; open and close center rooms;
10. Monitor the checking out/in of instructional materials;
11. Delegates assignments to unclassified staff

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under supervision of the Administrator, the position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the district’s event management software and auditing course sections to ensure that they are built correctly and are free of error. The position is also responsible for compiling and updating all catalog text; reserving rooms for non-class events; and providing administrative support to curriculum related activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.       Oversees the district’s scheduling software, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all scheduling information and providing training to new users;
2.       Compiles and prepares all catalog text revisions;
3.      Copy, edits and proofreads the college catalog text to ensure the consistency between class schedules and the information in the college catalog;
4.      Reviews class sections to ensure the accuracy of registration, apportionment, and management information system (MIS) data;
5.       Serves as a schedule building resource for division administrative assistants and academic deans;
6.      Reviews class schedules to process room requests and resolve room schedule conflicts;
7.       Assists with the review and revision of program and general education requirements for the college catalog;
8.      Reviews degree audit system to ensure the accuracy of programs within the system, update course information, and to ensure that district courses are aligned with the appropriate completion of degree and certificate programs;
9.      Recommends the development and modification of policies, procedures, and programs to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of scheduling practices;
10.   Conducts trainings and workshops;
11.   Develops reports to make proposals and recommendations;
12.   Files departmental documents, records, and reports;
13.   Monitors departmental funds to assist the supervising manager track departmental expenditures and recommend purchases;
