POSITION

Within our Alternatives platform, we are seeking an Equity Analyst (“Analyst”) to join our Aregua fund. Aregua is our emerging markets long/short equity hedge fund, which comprised of stocks that exhibit strong or improving growth profiles, returns on capital, and corporate stewardship. The Analyst will work closely with the Portfolio Manager to generate, research, and implement investment ideas across market caps and regions for the concentrated portfolio. In addition, the Analyst will conduct fundamental research that leads to differentiated insights derived from asking innovative questions, anticipating trends, and identifying risks and potential disruptions in rapidly changing emerging markets.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
The following essential skills are required for the role:Investment acumen and passion

  • The Equity Analyst will have a deep understanding of global emerging markets and companies within them (across sectors). The ability to identify mispricing and valuation discrepancies, make investment recommendations, and communicate his/her findings to the Portfolio Manager is required. The ideal candidate will be passionate about markets with a demonstrated track record of successful stock recommendations. In addition, the Analyst must exhibit a deep fundamental, research oriented, bottom-up approach, supported by a strong investment philosophy and process, and be able to implement ideas through an analytical framework.Superior collaboration and influencing skills
  • The successful candidate will be energized by being an individual contributor within a highly collaborative team and embracing the benefits of overlapping lines of company coverage and idea generation. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in an analytical role on the buy- or sell-side, of which a minimum of 5 years of experience is in emerging markets, specifically the Asia-Pacific region. Responsibilities

Strategy
Be aware of and execute the prescribed strategy of Regional SCB leadership in day to day operations, as related to mitigating financial crime risk and meeting or exceeding current and relevant future regulatory compliance requirements.
Business
Continually monitor the external environment through various internal/external sources and the media to identify financial crime risks which may potentially impact the bank in the future, map and assess those risks, quantify the potential impact and escalate where necessary.
Processes
Conduct thorough and detailed research in support of country, client and industry studies to include researching beneficial owners, adverse media, social network analysis, etc.
Support Senior Manager and Team Lead in conducting detailed, thorough reviews based on internal and external intelligence to determine scope and depth of suspicious activity.
Conduct detailed and voluminous transactional reviews using excel to detect and report on potentially suspicious activity.
Formulate and recommend responses to potential suspicious findings, reporting such activity to the appropriate regulatory authorities, and supporting FCC in developing the Bank’s forward-looking risk-mitigation response.
Coordinate responses and requests pursuant to Section 314 of the USA PATRIOT ACT where necessary;
Work with team members to determine whether to close cases, escalate findings and/or file a Suspicious Activity Report (“SAR”) with the US Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
Draft and review SARs.
Draft requests for information (RFI)
Perform data entry related to tracking and documenting intelligence review steps
Provide comprehensive and timely administrative support to the FCIU team, including filing of pertinent materials, generating photocopies, compiling presentations, etc.

Qualifications

0-2 years of financial services, intelligence or law enforcement intelligence analytic support with demonstrated success and increasing responsibilities.
ACAMS certification or equivalent preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, intelligence or criminal justice from an accredited institution, or equivalent.
Understanding of the SAR process and correspondent banking preferred.
