SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DEPENDING ON LOCATION:

  • Retrieve all dishes, pots, pans, utensils and other items from kitchen and other areas and ensure all are washed and sanitized in a timely manner throughout the shift.
  • Learn and operate all aspects of high temperature dishwashing machines.
  • Clean/sanitize, empty trash, sweep, and maintain cleanliness of the dish room/area.
  • Adhere to company sanitation procedures.
  • Observes all safety and company rules and guidelines.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION: 

Must have the ability to talk/express and/or exchange ideas and hear/perceive sounds.  Physical appearance presented to the public and internal employees must be professional.

WORK CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS:

Work is regularly performed in a dish room area that frequently exposes employee to cleaning compounds, chemicals and humid temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.

IT Support Specialist at San Diego State University Job Description

Under the primary supervision of the Information Technology Director, the IT Support Specialist provides user support for computer systems and software applications. As a liaison between IT and end-users, the IT Support Specialist excels in managing the IT Helpdesk ticket system and communicating detailed information clearly and professionally to end-users. This position also consults with students, staff, and instructors to enhance the use and access of technology and information systems.

Responsibilities

Position Specific Duties 90%

  • Working hours for this position will be Monday – Thursday 1:00pm to 10:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Receive and document incoming support requests from students, instructors, and staff related to Global Campus/SDSU applications and IT infrastructure.
  • Use the ServiceNow ticketing system to manage and resolve IT service requests.
  • Retrieve student information from the University Student Information System (SIS) to troubleshoot access issues.
  • Analyze student, instructor, and staff needs to recommend appropriate solutions and ensure a positive end-user experience.
  • Manage workload to ensure all customer issues are resolved promptly and thoroughly.
  • Work collaboratively across various departments to ensure proper management and escalation of end-user issues.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and configure hardware and software, LAN’s, WiFi, and Internet Connectivity.
  • Manage equipment through the full life-cycle of use (e.g.,  monitoring, patching, upgrading, etc.).
  • Provide training and orientation to end-users on new and existing technologies and applications.
  • Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software, and resources.
  • Maintain and support AV and technical equipment in computer labs, smart classrooms, offices, and conference rooms.
  • Provide work direction and prioritized tasks to student assistants.
  • Create schedules for help desk and lab technicians to ensure adequate support coverage.
  • Provide technical support for the college’s online learning infrastructure (Learning Management Systems, Web Conferencing technologies, and integrated learning tools).

  • Support networked copiers and printers.

HR Manager at San Diego State University Job Description

Overview

This position is open until filled with the first review of resumes to take place on February 18, 2022. 

The HR Manager functions as a key member of the Foundation’s management team. Responsible for providing support and guidance to their team and to actively engage employees and develop an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance. The HR Manager will supervise and provide guidance, mentoring, training, and performance management to a team of six HR professional and support employees.

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Human Resources, the HR Manager oversees a range of functions related strategic initiatives for recruitment and talent management. The HR Manager contributes and supports the organizations mission, vision, values, strategic goals and objectives; evaluates people-related business needs; ensures HR meets current and future business needs; oversees the planning, project coordination, management of an HR team, provides project management and proposes, develops and executes strategic initiatives for HR. This position manages and directs a team dedicated to managing HR Recruitment, Onboarding, Classification, Compensation, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Policy Compliance and Employment Law.

Responsibilities

The HR Manager is responsible for but not limited to managing a team of Human Resources Business Partners, HR Specialists and HR Assistants who handle the following duties while also handling a personal workload including:

Recruitment Process (35%)

  • Works with hiring managers to assess recruitment needs for departments or projects;
  • Makes sure departments and projects are trained on the recruitment process and builds a culture of two-way feedback; reviews job descriptions for accuracy and ensures ad-copy is developed and position is advertised in the appropriate publications;
  • Provides assistance to managers with drafting effective interview questions; screens applications for minimum qualifications, oversees the interview process and makes the offer of employment.
  • Initiates the on-boarding process and creates the new hire paperwork.
  • Assures compliance of EEO plan and applicable laws, ensuring regulations and standards are met.
  • Responsible for accurately tracking all recruitment files and documents within established timeframes.

Compensation and Classification (20%)

  • Analyzes requests for reclassification of positions;
  • Reviews classification standards and makes appropriate recommendation based on job description, duties and responsibilities and materials provided.
  • Prepares compensation analysis for new hires, promotions and/or equity increases and recommends salary adjustments as supported by market-based data or internal equities;
  • Advises management on the impact of reorganization considerations on job families or individual jobs as it may relate to incumbent or titling changes;

  • Reviews and processes merit increases.

Performance Management/Employee Relations (15%)

  • Partner with management and provide day-to-day support on employee relations issues by offering an innovative approach to problem resolution;

  • Design performance improvement plans and develop disciplinary action solutions;
  • Facilitates collaborative problem solving strategies to resolve employee relations matters through effective communication with all levels of employees;
  • Conducts HR investigations and takes appropriate action on complaints of harassment, policy violations and the like.
  • Participates in the termination process ensuring decisions are consistent with company policy to limit potential liability;
  • May conduct research for and participate in reductions in staff (RIF’s);
  • Investigates and responds to requests from regulatory agencies in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the annual review process, ensuring performance reviews are completed a timely manner.

Policy Development / Review/ Implementation / Compliance / Employment Law (10%)

  • Recommend new approaches, processes, policies and procedures to increase continual improvement of the HR function;
  • Develops and modifies HR policies and procedures as appropriate;
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation acting as subject matter expert ensuring they are consistently applied company wide. Verifies managers, departments and projects are in compliance with federal and state laws;
  • Ensures legal compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action regulations;
  • Provides clear and effective consultation to management on employment law.

HR Management (10%)

  • Provide HR staff member development by giving guidance, feedback, support, and performance management.
  • Motivates and coaches direct reports to deliver results that integrate the HR function into the context of the organization and support the needs of the organization.
  • Identifies and hires competent human resources department staff. Provides supervision and direction to three Senior HR Business Partners, one HR Specialist and 2 HR Assistants.
  • Represents the foundation by taking a visible position and developing a network of contacts with colleagues outside the Foundation and in the wider HR profession.

  • Manage a wide variety of professional/management level assignments in strategic support of the Human Resources Department and the organization.

School Social Worker at San Diego State University Job Description

Overview

Project RISE UP: A program focused on providing resources and supports for San Diego Unified School District students and families experiencing homelessness.  The social worker will oversee the implementation of the goals of Project RISE UP by: Resilience building in schools through tutoring and professional development focused on trauma informed care practices that foster students’ resilience; Increasing awareness of the rights and needs of students experiencing homelessness among schools and community agencies; Streamlining and expanding support to youth and families by strengthening partnerships with community partners, as well as key departments within the school; Expanding outreach efforts to increase enrollment for PK-12, with an emphasis on preschool aged children that are experiencing homelessness; Upgrading the coordination and distribution of supplies to students in need; and, Policy and procedures clarity and training in order to provide excellent level of services to youth and families experiencing homelessness

Responsibilities

The social worker (MSW or LCSW) coordinates student services through the San Diego Unified School District’s (SDUSD) Office of Children and Youth in Transition (CYT) and Mental Health Resources Center (MHRC). The candidate will actively provide leadership and expertise in connecting with families and collaborating with department and community agencies to meet the needs of students experiencing homelessness to facilitate success in school. PLANNING/SUPERVISION (37%)

  • Create a welcoming and joining climate for all multi-ethnic and linguistic parents.
  • Serve as a field instructor with San Diego State University School of Social Work, or other universities.
  • Collaborate with the CYT staff and SDUSD key departments to coordinate support services for students and parents.
  • Collaborate with existing school programs and other agencies through the Community Collaborative.
  • Collaborate with other school staff to coordinate support services for students.
  • Attend and/or facilitate monthly social work meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Overseeing the work of SDUSD hired community assistants who will be supporting the implementation of the goals of Project RISE UP.

PROVIDE COUNSELING/THERAPY (35%)

  • Assess students for mental health issues and complete intake process with students/families.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling.
  • Provide referrals to resources and case management to students and families.
  • Provide crisis intervention.
  • Develop relationships between home and school, and with health and social service programs.
  • Facilitate support groups on topics such as self-esteem groups, social skills, anger management, etc.

Climbing Program & Team Building Supervisor at San Diego State University Job Description

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Recreation, the Climbing Wall and Team Building Supervisor assists with the development, implementation and supervision of Aztec Adventures programs, including climbing wall, team building programs and credit classes. The Supervisor will oversee multiple aspects of the Aztec Adventures programs, including daily operations, fiscal management, risk management, policies and procedures, scheduling and event planning, and staff management. Aztec Recreation will be opening the Aztec Recreation Center Expansion in fall 2021 including new climbing and bouldering walls. The climbing wall features include over 67 linear feet by 41.5 feet tall of climbing with 13 belay bars, rapel ledge, sculpted crack, 41 linear feet by 12.5 feet tall bouldering wall, and 10 feet by 10 feet shotrock sculpted training wall. The supervisor will develop new operations and programs for the climbing walls. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Primary Functions

  • Assists with the planning, organization, and implementation of recreational outdoor programs including but not limited to: climbing wall operations, instructional classes, and team building programs
  • Ensures all programs and services are governed by rules, guidelines, policies and procedures approved by the A.S. Recreation and Wellness Commission
  • Ensures policies and procedures are developed, interpreted and applied properly for all Aztec Adventures facilities and programs with participant safety as a high priority
  • Ensures adherence to Aztec Recreation, Associated Students and SDSU policies
  • Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates program staff
  • Provides programming changes, needs and ideas to enhance participation growth
  • Assists with promotional materials and social media content in collaboration with Aztec Recreation Marketing Coordinator and student staff to promote and publicize programs
  • Completes assessment for all Aztec Adventures programs

Instructional Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

Minimum & Preferred Requirements Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in outdoor education, experiential education, recreation, or related field from an accredited college or university required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum two years of experience administering outdoor recreation programs required (or two years Graduate Assistantship experience)
