The Community Outreach is a unit within MCD. The team leads the strategy and development of community engagement on behalf of MCD. Working within units across the university, the team staff a community council (of approximately 30 members) and executes on several community events partnering with other units within MCD. The team identifies volunteer opportunities to engage local constituencies around the importance of Stanford Medicine to external constituents.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Project Manager for MCD Community Outreach administers, supports, and manages a wide range of programs and activities, including both public-facing and private events as well as strategic collaborations among Stanford leadership, faculty, students, alumni, and community members.  Reporting to the Director of Community Outreach, you will play a key role in project management coordination, data analysis and reporting, and communications that strengthen ties with the local community around Stanford Medicine’s priorities.

This role will have a hybrid schedule, with your primary work location at our Redwood City, CA offices and the option to telecommute two to three days per week.  Occasional event staffing may be required (evenings and weekends).

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Independently implement, manage, administer, and evaluate volunteer engagement initiatives and events and programs that fulfill goals for community outreach and engagement
  • Work across teams to assist in planning of key community outreach events, including but not limited to Heath Matters and annual community health education events, both in-person and virtual
  • Support and staff the Community Council meetings including pre-meeting logistics, communications, day-of logistics, tracking attendance, agenda building, faculty speaker support and follow-up.
  • Collect and analyze event and volunteer data, create reports, review and evaluate trends for refinement and or improvement.
  • Budget forecasting and tracking.
  • Work across teams and fundraising groups, to identify, report, and track engagement activities across multiple target audiences.
  • Organize and produce communication pieces including, a monthly council newsletter, briefings, agendas, email and print invitations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and supporting an environment of diversity and inclusion.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Advanced ability with Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficiency with Adobe InDesign
  • Strong data analysis skills including experience gathering, organizing and analyzing data, and communicating/presenting results and recommendations in a succinct fashion to key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
  • Outstanding communication skills, exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail and follow-through.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid California Non-commercial Class Driver’s License.

Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE) is the operational core of Stanford University’s physical campus. LBRE is looking for an energetic, creative, and talented communications professional with excellent writing, project management, and stakeholder management skills. The Communication Specialist is a full-time continuing role and hybrid, with a mix of on-site and remote work. The on-site work location will be at the Stanford Redwood City campus and may need to come to the main campus in Palo Alto occasionally. This position will report to the Executive Director, Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have experience with executive and change management communications, as well as project management. Candidates should be detail-oriented and highly motivated, with the ability to think strategically, adapt quickly and work well with a team.

The work of the individual in this position will be focused on communication of diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic plan in partnership with the LBRE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. Additionally, this role will partner closely with the LBRE Vice President Office and Human Resources, and others to manage internal communications to inform, engage, and inspire our employees.

Core Duties:

  • Recommends and executes communication strategies and plans that engage employees with the organization’s mission and goals and foster a strong culture built on LEGACY core values.
  • Create end-to-end execution of communication materials (e.g., newsletters, announcements, all-staff messages and presentations, leadership talking points, etc.) which encompasses the following: creating plans; curating and editing customized content by audience; identifying effective channels; obtaining leadership approvals; and distributing materials.
  • Support execution of HR programs and initiatives such as employee service awards recognition video, training, and operational materials to help the organization communicate more effectively.
  • Manages LBRE sponsored websites that includes setting standards, drafting content, editing content produced by others, and publishing. The websites encompass both the external-facing website (used primarily for recruitment and general information about LBRE) and the intranet.

Program and Events Coordinator at Stanford University School of Medicine Job Description

Stanford University is seeking an Events Planner 1 to plan and execute events for admissions in the School of Medicine. The qualified candidate will consult with stakeholders and plan logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support, and pre- and post-event evaluations.

Duties Include

  • Design, plan, implement, and coordinate customized events.
  • Evaluate and select vendors and providers of services considering stakeholder requests and requirements.
  • Serve as a member of an events team, and contribute in a wide variety of functional areas including decisions around budget allocation, event logistics and facilities.
  • Consult with stakeholders to determine objectives and requirements.
  • Inspect event facilities to ensure they conform to the event needs.
