I. JOB OVERVIEW
This senior level position performs grant life-cycle administration primarily within Research Pod 2. The Pod is structured to provide a supportive environment for individuals seeking to grow into leadership roles within the research community and encourages continual professional development. Positions within the Pod are currently utilizing a hybrid remote schedule.
Research Program Managers (RPM) are expected to choose two areas to become subject matter experts for the Pod (eg. Foundation proposals and subrecipients, labor/effort and training). RPMs will occasionally serve as a lead to provide guidance as needed for entry and mid-level team members. Strong candidates will either have or seek to obtain a CRA certification.
The duties of a Research Program Manager (RPM) are split into two major categories of pre-award and post-award.
Pre-Award
The first category includes proposal preparation and submission in collaboration with research faculty. As an RPM, the amount, complexity and autonomy for handling proposals is set to the highest standard and the individual should be well-versed in all requisite guidelines for the submission (or be able to quickly find the relevant information).
Job Description Summary:
Pre-Award Responsibilities Include:
  • Reading and comprehending funding announcements
  • Preparing budgets and other related documents
  • Reviewing subcontracts and service agreements for completeness
  • Providing review and ensuring compliance for all funder requirements
  • Mastery of the submission system (GW myResearch and relevant sponsor portals)
Post-Award
Post-award research administration includes working closely with a group of faculty and overseeing their portfolios. As an RPM, the size and complexity of the portfolio should reflect the highest level of sophistication in finance management and compliance or the RPM should be a specialist providing support to the entire Pod (eg. Primary reviewer and approver, trainer, special ops floater). Meetings to strategize and reconcile award funds are expected to occur on a bimonthly cadence, and the research program manager conducts outreach to other GW stakeholders to assist in maintaining standard operational efficiencies.
Post-Award Responsibilities Include:
  • Initiation of requisitions for purchase orders
  • Reviewing and ensuring payment of service agreements and invoices
  • Reviewing P-Card expenditure reports plus
  • Reviewing payroll distributions
Performs other related duties as assigned, such as guiding/participating in Pod and University research related meetings/committees. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning tasks that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience.   • Compile, analyze, verify, and report institutional data extracts from the student information system (Banner) and the university data warehouse in compliance with reporting requirements of federal and state agencies, accrediting bodies, management needs, and ad hoc requests.
  • Design, implement, and summarize complex analytical research into coherent reports for use in decision-making based on statistical analysis of institutional data.
  • Develop, maintain and update data visualizations and institutional dashboards in response to the information needs of campus leaders using Tableau.
  • Respond to external surveys from publishers of higher education directories and routine requests for information from other external agencies.
  • Collect information from various sources to complete surveys; ensure data is accurate, complete, and timely.

The Student Affairs team is comprehensive, collaborative, and supports the mission to be academically rigorous and simultaneously student-centered.

The Community Coordinator (CC) is responsible for implementing the vision, mission, goals, and priorities of Campus Living and Residential Education ( CLRE ) at the George Washington University in the residence halls for residential students. In collaboration with other CCs, CCs are responsible for the oversight of a residential community and serve as a point of contact for residential students. CCs develop the community environment and identity of their residence hall. CCs provide high level customer service and direct supervision of different types of student staff to facilitate the development of communities, foster a sense of belonging, promote health and wellbeing, and support the residents’ learning.

CCs coordinate interventions and high level support to students and their families, manage complex incidents and resident needs, and collaborate with stakeholders across the university to ensure students thrive as members of the GW community. This position includes responsibility for a variety of administrative, operational, and conference related functions associated with the management of the residence hall/apartment community. During the summer, CCs oversee the management of summer residential students which includes interns, short-term and long term stays and summer students.

Position Summary

  • Manages neighborhood daily need and operations, including community development, building operations, occupancy management, seasonal transitions, community and student behavioral support
  • Provide direct supervision of student staff within their neighborhood
  • Develop a personal knowledge of individual residents to better provide resources and referrals related to supporting residents
  • Develop a response to and manage room/suitemate conflicts and mediations, including student and parent/guardian follow up
  • Build and maintain student success oriented relationships with faculty partners, RHA , and other campus partners
  • Implements the Residential Community Development Plan for their designated residence hall and neighborhood
  • Serve on committees or collateral assignments to support specialized project areas related to the success of the departmental and Division for Student Affairs, including (but not limited to) orientations, training and staff development, programming, communications, summer conference housing, and staff recruitment and selection.
  • Implement needs-based programmatic efforts and university initiatives, including but not limited to wellness and wellbeing, alcohol and other drug education programming, and support of university traditions and spirit initiatives.
  • Manage neighborhood residential community standards, including adjudicating conduct meetings in consultation with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Oversee a neighborhood budget for all programmatic initiatives.
  • Enforce and help develop university behavior policy and role model community standards
  • Serve as part of a 24/7 rotating on call system, to respond to urgent residential needs, campus emergencies, or other incidents in the residence hall.
