The Town of Breckenridge Public Works Department-Fleet Division is seeking a dedicated and customer service oriented individual for the position of Fleet Administrative Specialist. The individual in this position is responsible a variety of duties in support of Fleet Public Works customer service, internal service, and fleet asset management system maintenance to include; parts, supplies and tool inventory, purchase order and invoice processing, work order reviews, data entry and tracking, general administrative work, filing, record keeping, and vendor and customer scheduling and communications. Fuel system oversight to include; records, ordering, and assistance with compliance. Vendor and customer scheduling and communications, radio communications and general administrative work areas.

The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking dedicated, highly responsible and customer service oriented individuals for the position of Lifeguard. Lifeguards are responsible for exceptional safety and guest service for the Recreation Department. Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the health and safety of patrons and preventing accidents through the education and enforcement of policies, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of patrons. Lifeguards are also responsible for monitoring the pool facilities for potential hazards or unsafe conditions, providing first aid to patrons, custodial duties in maintaining the aquatic facilities, public relations, and all other duties as necessary or required. This includes providing information, implementing or carrying out preplanned programs or activities, assisting with program planning, enforcing policies or procedures, and generally representing the department in the most quality and service oriented manner possible.

Lifeguards are responsible for responding to any level of incident or emergency around the pool areas and the facility.  Lifeguards maintain communication and relationships with other staff, members or guests while enforcing our established rules in a fair and polite manner and completing any other tasks assigned by the Aquatic Coordinator or Aquatic Lead. Above all, the safety of our members and guests is of the highest importance in this safety sensitive position.

WORK SCHEDULE

The Town of Breckenridge is located 9,603 feet above sea level in a U-shaped valley on the western slope of the Continental Divide. In 2009, the Town celebrated its 150th anniversary. The Town boasts world-class amenities for residents and visitors alike. The Breckenridge Ski Resort (owned and operated by Vail Resorts, Inc.) is one of the most visited amenities servicing multi-difficulty ski slopes across 4 peaks on the Ten Mile Range of the Rocky Mountains. However, the Town provides many facilities as well: the Arts District, Recreation Center, Gold Run Nordic Center, Riverwalk Center, Stephen C. West Ice Arena, and the Backstage Theatre. And summer is not to be forgotten; locals always say, “I came for the winters and stayed for the summers.” The Open Space and Trails programs in Breckenridge provide unparalleled access to the natural beauty of Breckenridge year-round.

The Town also proactively supports the needs of residents through an affordable housing program and support of childcare facilities. Breckenridge has two elementary schools, four childcare facilities as well as a Colorado Mountain College Campus that offers both 2 year and (limited) 4 year degrees. It is a small Town with big town amenities.

There are 5.3 square miles within the town boundary. Although the Town is home to a permanent population of only approximately 5,078 (2020 census) residents, the peak population that includes day visitors, day skiers, overnight guests, and second homeowners, is estimated to exceed 36,000 on a busy day.

Breckenridge is a small Town with a city-sized budget. The Town has budgeted $30M in operational, General Fund expenses in 2022 and nearly $50M in Capital expenses in the next four years. The Town operates several funds, including a water utility, affordable housing, open space, parking & transportation, and many others, that combine to form a $223M budget for 2022. The Position:

The Town of Breckenridge is looking for a Senior Accountant responsible for identifying, classifying, recording, summarizing and reporting financial information. This may include establishing and maintaining accounting records, participating in budget control, and assisting in preparation of financial statements. The Senior Accountant performs a variety of complex governmental accounting functions in the Finance Department, maintaining fiscal records and financial systems of the Town of Breckenridge. This is a newly created position, responsible for accounting and financial reporting, monthly/quarterly/annual close processes, grant management assistance, accounts receivable, notes receivable, capital assets, leases and internal financial controls.

The Town of Breckenridge Administration Department is seeking a uniquely qualified individual for the position of Communications & Marketing Coordinator. The individual in this position will be responsible for implementing the Town’s strategic external and internal communications, serving as the Town’s Public Information Officer, and working closely on Town marketing initiatives with the Breckenridge Tourism Office. The individual in this role provides input for the development of the Town’s strategic communications, community relations, media relations, marketing, and public and employee engagement/outreach efforts that support the Breckenridge Vision, and the Town’s Mission and Values & Philosophies. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of direct work experience in one or more of the following is required: Communications, Social Media Communications, Marketing, E-Marketing, Public Relations and/or Events.
  • Experience and ability to proficiently use a variety of computer programs, including but not limited to: MS Office, HTML, CMS, various graphic design software programs, and various social media platforms.
  • Must have excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; and experience crafting content for traditional and social media space.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • A degree in a related field (Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Public Administration or closely related field) is preferred. Master’s degree is desired.
  • Government or Non-profit Organization experience is preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • Valid Colorado drivers license at time of hire.

Community Service Officer at Town of Breckenridge Job Description

The Town of Breckenridge Police Department is seeking a Community Service Officer (CSO) to perform a variety of field and administrative duties in support of the non-law enforcement public service and safety functions of the department. CSO’s are responsible for enforcement of Municipal Codes related to parking, animal control, trash, junk/abandoned vehicles, and other town operations such as community development and finance. CSO’s also perform a variety or project-based and support functions as required by management to meet the needs of the department and the community. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 21 years of age at time of appointment.
  • High school graduate or GED; preference will be given to candidates with post-high school higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with the public in a customer service environment.
  • Possess and maintain a Colorado Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.

  • Knowledge of applicable contemporary law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment and criminal law, codes, and legal procedures as they apply to this non-sworn position.
  • Knowledge of Community Oriented Policing, its philosophy and components.
  • Skill in the safe operation of vehicles, specific non-lethal weapons, police radio, cellular telephone, computers and software for report writing, office equipment, pagers, automated parking summons equipment, a variety of animal control/trapping devices, and other equipment related to non-sworn law enforcement duties.
  • Ability to learn and interpret materials as needed, including applicable laws, codes and department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to learn animal behavior and techniques used in safely controlling and trapping a variety of animals; understand humane treatment of animals and the necessity for strict enforcement of animal control laws.
  • Ability to respond quickly, calmly, and effectively in various situations; exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions; handle confidential information; work well under stressful conditions; perform work requiring good physical condition; and understand and follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and interact with individuals and groups including individuals from diverse socio-economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, abilities, lifestyles, ages and both genders in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Ability to apply professional law enforcement methods, crime prevention techniques and problem solving methods to reduce crime and promote a safe environment in the community.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive relationship between the community and the department.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in dealing with the public, including the ability to communicate facts in legal proceedings.

Additional Information WORK SCHEDULE This position requires that you are able to work four 10 hour shifts per week, which that may include daytime, weekends, and holiday shifts.
